There are a lot of online tools that we as teachers can bring into the classroom. These sites are interactive and a great way for students to present information through new mediums (aside from PowerPoint and papers). Below is a glogster I made. It's an interactive poster for students to create projects, fliers, anything they can think of. Teachers can also use this tool (as I have) to create a sense of community throughout the classroom or for families to view outside of the school.
Digital story telling is also a fun way for students and teachers to use technology in order to relay information. xtranormal.com is my favorite site. It allows you to create custom videos (like the one below) using different characters, actions etc. There are a lot of other sites out there for this same purpose. It creates a digital voice for you to leave messages for families/students/substitute teachers, etc. It's a litle strange sounding, but a lot of fun to play with!
Google documents, scriblnk, thinklinkr are all great sites for collaborative work. They allow multiple people to create at the same time! Google also has surveys you can send out electronically for people to fill out, families or students.
